Brownie Helper / Leader
Once a week during term time, Tuesday 5.45pm - 7.45pm
We are looking for adults to help at Shavington Brownie Pack as either a Unit helper or Assisstant Leader. Shavington Brownies is a well established group with 24 delightful Brownies aged 7-10 who enjoy trying new things, earning badges and going on trips.
Unit Helpers are vital in supporting the ongoing running of a unit. They provide the Leaders with an extra pair of hands at the weekly meetings to make sure that all girls are able to join in and participate.
Leaders have overall responsibility for the unit, although this is often shared between a team. Leaders and Assistant Leaders work with the girls to plan activities and deliver the Girlguiding programme.
Brownies is the Girlguiding section for girls aged seven to ten.
Through regular meetings, special events, day trips, sleepovers, camps and holidays, Brownies learn new hobbies, play music, explore other cultures and get adventurous outdoors. Girls can also extend their knowledge and abilities by working towards Brownie interest badges covering many different hobbies and activities from Science investigator to Circus skills.
Brownies become a member of a Six, a unit with a name such as Badger, Fox, Mole, Squirrel, Hedgehog or Rabbit, and follow a programme called the Brownie Adventure. The name reflects the world of exciting opportunities, challenges and fun that is Brownies.
We are looking for enthusiastic adults aged 18+ who are looking to do something positive with their time. Volunteers need to be happy to work as part of an effective team to ensure that girls get the best experience out of being part of Girlguiding and the Brownie section.
No prior experience of working with young people is required as new volunteers will be placed within local, experienced teams and ongoing training, mentoring and qualifications is offered.
