Young Leader for Brownies

Shavington

Commitment:

Tuesdays 5.45pm - 7.45pm During Term Time

The Role:

Girlguiding is looking for two young leaders to support the Brownie Pack in Shavington. This is a thriving group with 24 deligtful Brownies aged 7-10 who love to do different things and get out and about in the local community. The unit meets on Tuesday evenings 5.45pm - 7.45pm during term time.

Young leaders don't have to have any previous experience of Girlguiding, we just ask for enthusiasm, an interest in working with children and to be happy working as part of a team.

Young leaders are young women aged 14 - 17, they play a valuable role within the leadership team, taking an active part in planning and running activities, trips and residential experiences.

Many young leaders join Girlguiding if they are working towards their Duke of Edinburgh award and are wanting to complete their volunteering section (most of whom enjoy it so much that they stay on after). There are also many awards and qualifications that are available to young leaders within Girlguiding such as Look Wider, Queen’s Guide Award, Peer Educators, Duke of Edinburgh is also offed through Girlguiding.

‘Girlguiding has helped me develop loads of skills, through helping out at meetings learning team leadership, to learning how to kayak at camp, to interviewing people! I definitely feel like my voice is being heard and I can make a difference.’
Simone, 17
