Beaver Helper

Friday evenings 6pm - 7pm

The Role:

Beaver helpers provide invaluable support to Beaver Leaders in delivering the programme to young people aged 6 to 8 on a weekly or rota basis.

About Beavers
Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between eight and eight years six months.
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony.
Some Beaver Scout Colonies also organise Sleepovers. These are often the first time a young person spends a night away from home.

Volunteers say:
'I believe the kids get such a lot out of it; I just put a bit back for what the kids take out.'
'I hadn't used a compass since I was a Scout. After I learned how to use one again, I take one out on family walks. We get lost less than we used to!'
'We had a water fight at Beavers the other week, it was great!'

Experience Required:

We are looking for Beaver helpers to support the section leader on Friday evenings in Halebank for a hour a week during term time.

We are looking for adults aged 18+ who are looking to do something positive with their free time. Volunteers need to be happy to work as part of an effective team to ensure that boy's and girls get the best experience out of being part of Beavers.

No prior experience of working with young people needed as new volunteers will be placed within local, experienced teams and ongoing training, mentoring and qualifications are offered.
